- 5/10/08 - Fourth Annual Choose Franklin Community Day
This year's event will be held 5/10 rain or shine. This year's event will kick off with a parade (with the theme Odell Park - 100 Years Of Fun) and will also offer entertainment, rides, children's games, craft booths, food vendors, raffles, sidewalk sales and flea market tables in the downtown area both along the sidewalks and in our two downtown parks. - 5/10/08 - Garden Series - Attracting Songbirds
An educational guided tour of Tarbin Gardens with emphasis on providing an environment to attract songbirds. Tours last approx. one hour but you can stay for the rest of the day. Bring a picnic lunch to eat in the Rose Garden Patio. The Gardens are open from 10am to 6pm. Adults $8.50, Seniors, Children and Students $7.50.
- 5/12/08 - Gym & Game Night For Adults With Special Needs
The environment will encourage socialization as well as physical activity for each participant. Some of the activities will include by not limited to basketball, kickball, bolleyball, pool and ping pong. There is a one-time fee fo $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents.

There is a one time fee of $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Registrations must be completed and returned to the Franklin Parks & Rec Department. This is open for any adult (18 years or older) interested in participating in adult floor hockey at the Franklin Rec Center

Doors to this well attended event will open at 6pm. Support the creation of a recreation trail/bicycle path through Laconia by purchasing a ticket ($100 per ticket) to the W.O.W. Sweepstakes Ball. Playing our sweepstakes entitles you and a guest to attend the ball. Grand Prize $10,000: 2nd prize $1,000; 3rd prize $500; 4th prize $300; 5th thru 10th prizes $200. Only 300 tickets sold. DJ services will be by HOLLYCOW, there will be a 30 minute auction and dinner will be courtesy of Patrick's Pub & Eatery. - 5/17/08 - Akwaaba ATraditional African Drum & Dance Ensemble
Families are invited to join in the celebration of African Music. Guests are Ghanaian musicians of the Akwaaba Traditional African Drum and Dance Ensemble who will sing, dance, play, and invite interested audience members to participate. Suggested donation is $5 for adults $2 for children.
- 5/17/08 - Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert
Final concert of the 2007/2008 season will feature Meredith pianist Chris Mega, who will perform Edvard Grieg's "Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op 16" The concert will also include a performance of Ludwig Van Beethoven's masterwork Symphony #6 also known as the Pastoral, and Berlioz's Rakoczy March.

Seniors are invited to attend this great event. there are information booths with data about available services that are greatly needed. Also there will be speakers and much more. Mode of transportation will be car pools from the TRIP center. A delicious lunch will be provided. Try to attend this educational conference and learn more about what is happening today for serior citizens. Cost is $20

Come see who's who of the Lakes Region Business Community. Give your business wings and say yes to success. This is one of the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce's signature events. Awards will be presented for the Hurst and Irwin Awards. Be greeted by valet parking, walk the red carpet but watch out for the papparazzi. Ken has been given the title of "New England's Own Gospel Singer" by many who have heard him sing. He provides messages of hope and encouragement to the church. His music covers the great hymns of faith and the newer gospel favorites that minister to all age groups.
- 6/22/08 - American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
A cancer survivor event within an event. At every Relay For Life, cancer Survivors are honored for their courage and strength by beginning the event with an honorary lap. The individuals are celebrated in varous ways from food and t-shirts, to dances and games! A community Fair - Few other events bring together all components of a community from children to older adults like the Relay For Life. Games, food, fun, music and activities fill the air as everyone joins for a common cause and has fun doing it. The Lulminaria Ceremony - Survivors and those who are no longer with us are honored at this one of a kind ceremony. Paper bags bearing the names of loved ones line the track and often the entire stadium. A candle is placed inside and is lit at dusk. Often the names on all of the bags are read to the sound of heart-felt music. This moving, memorable portion of the event is often the most powerful time of the entire day.
