- 4th Annual Benefit Dinner For Faith, Hope & Love Foundation
The 4th Annual Faith, Hope and Love Foundation Benefit Dinner and Dance will be held Saturday April 10th at the Country Cow Restaurant in Campton from 6-10pm. Tickets are Your $50 dollar tax deductible donation includes buffet dinner and door prize ticket. All proceeds go towards FHL's grant and scholarship fund. - Babysitting Training
The purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Course is to provide individuals ages 11 to 15 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play.
- Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes
The Franklin Parks and Recreation Department will be taking a trip to the TD Banknorth Garden for the Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes game on Saturday, April 10th. The game begins at 1:00pm and the bus will be departing from the Franklin Recreation Center at 10:00am. All tickets must be paid in full by Friday, March 26th.. The cost for this trip is $70.00 (which includes coach bus transportation and game ticket). We will be taking a maximum of 50 individuals; children twelve and under must be accompanied by an adult. To register please stop by the Parks and Recreation Department office for a registration form or go online to www.franklinnh.org.
- Celebrate Spring in Downtown Franklin Window Display Contest, Scavenger Hunt, Prizes & More
Seventeen downtown businesses will participate in a window display contest and scavenger hunt, decorating their windows in the "spirit of spring" to be visited and judged by the public from April 10 to May 8.
All participating businesses will be listed in the "Springtime in Franklin" Guide, which will include a scavenger hunt game card as well
as a list of other springtime events in downtown Franklin.
Guides can be found at the Franklin Public Library and all participating businesses.
Families, or individuals, will use the game card to participate in the scavenger hunt by visiting all seventeen windows and answering
a question about each springtime display. Once they have completed the game card and voted for their favorite display, they return
their guide to K.C. Phipps Jewelers (337 Central Street) to be entered in a raffle for a chance to win dinner and movie tickets for four.
Entries must be in by 10 AM on May 8. The winner will be announced during Franklin Community Day (May 8).
- Dance to benefit Laconia Youth Football's helmut drive
The Laconia Youth Football Organization will be host a Super Hero themed dance on Saturday, April 10 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the VFW Post on Court Street in Laconia. The admission at the door is $10 per couple or $5 per person, if you chose not to wear a costume it will be $10 per person. All the proceeds will go toward the second phase of LYFA's helmet drive. See you there. Your support is greatly appreciated.
- Donkey Basketball Returns to Franklin
Donkey Basketball is returning to Franklin after a lengthy absence. Franklin High School's class of 2011 is sponsoring the event which will bring together the entire community on April 10th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m in the
Franklin Middle School Gym.
There are four teams competing
for the championship. A Franklin City All-Star team comprised of Mayor Ken Merrifield, Councilor Scott
Clarenbach, Representative Leigh Webb and City Manager Elizabeth Corrow, will be facing off in the first game against the Franklin Firefighting team led by Deputy Chief Kevin LaChapelle.
The second game will be the FHS Faculty versus the FHS Students.
The winner of both will play in the championship game immediately following.
There will be free donkey rides for kids during intermission. Tickets are available at the Franklin Fire Station and at Franklin High School for $8.
Tickets will be $10 at the door.
- Family Fun Event – "Let's Have A Reading Party"
The Family Resource Center of Central NH, which is operated by Lakes Region Community Services, is hosting an event for families with young children namely "Let's Have a Reading Party". The event is sponsored by E&S Insurance of Gilford and the Melcher-Prescott Agency of Laconia. The event will include a concert at Laconia High School by Steve & Marty, preceded by a variety of "teachable moments" booths with fun activities geared towards children ages 0 to 5. The booth activities will be free and the concert tickets will be $5.00 for children over 3 years of age. - Franklin Municipal Services Department Open House
The Franklin Municipal Services Department will be holding an OPEN HOUSE at the Department's offices on West Bow Street on APRIL 10 from 10 AM to 2 PM rain or shine.
The new recycling/trash trucks will be on display and will be demonstrating the new curbside
pickup procedure. The Recycling Education Committee will have an information booth.
Information packets for the new recycling & trash program have been sent to all postal customers in Franklin. All of the information in the packet is also available on the city website at: www.franklinnh.org/updates!.htm
- Handmade Soaps
Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center, Sat., April 10, 2010 – 10:00-1:00 $40 NonMember, $35 Member. Join us to learn the art of making natural homemade soaps. Participants will receive complete written instructions and get hands-on experience making two different batches of soap. Each participant will receive some of the finished product!

- Movies & More for Kids
“The Princess & the Frog” rated G A fairy tale set in Jazz Age-era New Orleans and centered on a young girl named Tiana and her fateful kiss with a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again. Admission is free. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver 14 yrs. or older.
- Northern Stage Ensemble presents Bridge to Terabithia
Adults $5, Children $3
Tickets available at the door beginning at 1 p.m. on the day of the show
As part our K2K-TA theatre arts enrichment program, Northern
Stage brings a live stage adaptation of Katherine Paterson's Bridge to Terabithia to the Franklin Opera House. This
performance is open to the public, and tickets will only be
available at the door on the day of the show. The K2K-TA
program is supported in part by a grant from the New
Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment
for the Arts, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation
- Upper Valley Region and a generous gift from Janes
Trust.
- Pancake Breakfast For Winni Cal Ripken
Winnisquam Cal Ripken will hold a benefit pancake breakfast from 8-10am Saturday April 10th at Applebee's in Tilton. Former Red Sox slugger Sam Horn will be there to sign autographs. Later, from 1-3pm at Concord Sports Center, Horn will hold a hitting clinic. Proceeds benefit Winnisquam Cal Ripken.
- Planting a Child's Garden
Canterbury Shaker Village will present "Planting a Child's Garden," with Ruth Smith, Saturday, April 10 at 9 a.m. in the Canterbury Shaker Village Visitor Education Cente. In this program visitors will discover how to create a garden with children that can provide enchantment and learning for many ages. Sunflower houses, pizza gardens, pole bean tepees and butterfly gardens are fun ways for young sprouts to get started growing food and flowers. - Rabies Clinic In Franklin
A Rabies Clinic will be held Saturday April 10th from 1-2pm at the Franklin Fire Station. $10 per animal. The clinic is sponsored by Franklin Kiwanis Club. Please make sure your animals are on leashes.
- Streetcar Company Presents "Annie"
Tickets are now on sale for The Streetcar Company's spring production of "Annie". The curtain will rise on this award winning musical on Thursday April 8 at 7 p.m. at Laconia High School and continue Friday and Saturday April 9 and 10, also at 7 p.m. A matinee performance will be held on Sunday, April 11 at 1 p.m.
With the book written by Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Charles Strouse and, Martin Charnin, " Annie" has been delighting audiences for years on Broadway and across the country in national tours. Streetcar's cast of over 30 have been rehearsing for weeks fine-tuning the music and choreography of this classic Broadway show and look forward to bringing it to life on stage in April.

- Wily Coyotes at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center
Are "wily coyotes" really that clever? Why do they howl and where do they live? The eastern coyote is a relative newcomer to New Hampshire so we will explore some of the mysteries about them. Join us to learn about coyotes with lots of activities, story-telling, and a visit with our two-year old coyote.
